I’ve long been interested in the news media and the huge amount of influence they have over practically every aspect of society. The way the media chooses to frame issues can harness public opinion, set the news agenda, and even dictate Government policy. This power, coupled with a growing concern over the apparent “tabloidisation” of the news, inspired me to test if the media was doing its job responsibly – and the best way to do that was to document every front page of the country’s biggest newspaper, The New Zealand Herald, over a long enough period so as to get an accurate picture.

And because I’m a designer, to then turn it into a pretty infographic.
